Why The Most Important Loving Relationship is… With YOU!

Oct 6, 2022

Love is often presented as a “consequence.”

Unfortunately, many of us are taught at a very young age that love is rewarded TO us. That we’ll be loved if we do as we’re told… or when we display good behavior.

We need to understand that love is NOT a reward. It’s NOT a token of acceptance.

Love is an emotional energy. It’s a delicious vibration that comes from within us and then exudes out to others.

That’s why self love and having a beautiful relationship with ourselves needs to be our priority.

Many know me as the Transformational Mindset Coach who’s travelled the world helping clients with their relationships and as the facilitator at hundreds of international events. They know that the FIRST thing I would talk about was focusing on our primary relationship… that’s the loving relationship with ourselves!

All too often, we put our energy into looking FOR love.

We search for those loving relationships that make us feel validated and accepted by others. It’s emotionally exhausting. And let’s face it – external love is most often conditional.

But when we change our way of thinking and understand that the most important love we need – is from ourselves, we take away that pressure. It empowers us to regain control and put our energy into OURSELVES!

When we love and care for ourselves… that love is pure, from the inside out. It’s unconditional, understanding, and non-judgemental.

That’s why self care is essential. It’s tapping in and recognizing, acknowledging, and embracing all of our own beautiful traits. Our strengths, specialties… our own superpowers! Being aligned with our dreams, hopes and desires. Having the confidence to be what we want to be, see, hear, and feel.

It’s practicing self care in ALL its forms. Mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical. Making the best choices to love, nurture and care for ourselves.

And of course, being grateful! Grateful for being alive, for all that we have and all that is coming our way. Gratitude exudes love!

Now imagine how those loving actions would improve our life!

When we tap in, it allows us to listen and look inside ourselves. To hear what it is we need. To love ourselves unconditionally, with compassion and patience. NOT constantly searching outside for conditional validation. We are more than that!

Then we tap out! Ignore all those negative voices – from ourselves and those around us. Stop listening to what others say about you. Tune out what it is that they think we should do and be.

Self care is, well, caring for ourselves. Making ourselves our primary relationship.

Loving ourselves and developing a strong, nurturing, and confident bond with ourselves creates the sturdy foundation necessary that we can THEN build and support those healthy external relationships on.

If we become reliant on external relationships to make us happy and feel loved – if we face criticism or are emotionally hurt by someone else – having a strong relationship with ourselves will help alleviate the pain, because we already know that we’re worthy, strong, beautiful, and resilient.

We can be confident, that no matter what happens with other relationships, we’ll always have our OWN back!

Afterall, this is YOUR world and reality, not theirs.
