The Art of Congruent Living: Embrace Change and Create a Life You Love

Jun 5, 2024

Are you waking up in the middle of your life thinking things should be different? Do you feel like there’s something more, something else possible for you? If you’re a creative soul or a seeker feeling this way, you’re not alone. Welcome to the transformative world of congruent living, where harmony and flow shape a life you love.

In today’s post, we will explore the essence of congruent living and share how letting go of what doesn’t serve you can open doors to joy, connection, and transformation. I’m Susan Lazar Hart, your congruency coach, and recently I embarked on a reflective journey while biking in France, which has inspired some significant shifts. Let’s dive in!

Time for Change: The Power of Reflection

During my solo bike rides in France, I had plenty of time to reflect. Around this time last year, while biking, the concept for my book, “Breaking Free,” was conceived. This time, a realization dawned on me: now is the time for change. If something that once brought you joy no longer does, it’s time to let it go. Embrace the possibility of change — if not now, when?

Big News and Community Shifts

As I reflect on the direction we’re headed, I’d like to announce that our Facebook group will close on June 30th. Don’t worry; a new space for our community is being created. Stay tuned for an invitation to join this exciting development.

For our final month together on this platform, the theme will be “How to Fall in Love with Your Life.” This question often arises from clients who feel disconnected from their current realities. It’s time to explore why it’s so hard to let go of what no longer serves you and to ignite a love for life again.

The Comfort Zone Trap

Many of us hold onto relationships, jobs, or situations that no longer serve us because they provide a sense of stability. This is the comfort zone trap. Your comfort zone may feel safe, but it also keeps you stagnant. The fear of the unknown often outweighs the discomfort of the familiar.

Key Question: Ask yourself, “Does staying in this comfort zone create the life and living I am asking for?

The answer will guide you. Staying within your comfort zone might feel secure, but it prevents growth and new experiences.

Emotional Attachments and Identity

Emotional attachments significantly shape our identity. We link our sense of self to people, places, and activities. Stories and habits we cling to can hold us back. To move forward, it’s essential to question these attachments.

Reflective Question: Ask, “What story am I holding onto?” Then, delve deeper: “Who does this story belong to?” Identify if it’s from your family, culture, or past experiences. This awareness helps release attachments that no longer serve you.

Fear of Regret and Embracing the Unknown

Fear of regret is a common obstacle when contemplating letting go. Many worry about making mistakes. However, remember that there is no such thing as a mistake; only learning experiences. Each choice builds your life’s foundation.

Transformative Thought: “I wonder what new possibilities this decision might create?” Embrace the journey and trust that new, fulfilling opportunities await.

Daily Practice for Joy

Here’s a simple yet powerful exercise inspired by Tim Wilde. Every morning, step outside, open your arms, and face the sun. Say, “I am prepared to flow in the direction that my soul has intended for me today.” This act aligns you with your inner guidance and sets a joyous tone for the day.

Conclusion: Embrace the Journey

Letting go of what doesn’t bring joy requires courage and self-awareness. Reflect on what truly serves you and make room for new joy-filled experiences. It’s time to live boldly, love greatly, and be the fearless leader you are meant to be.
