Taking Time for You: Reflect, Reset, and Embrace the New Year

Dec 12, 2024

Have you had a chance to take a breath and think about what you’d love to carry forward into the new year—and what you might be ready to leave behind?

As the year winds down, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Family gatherings, festive activities, and endless to-do lists can leave us feeling like there’s no time for ourselves. And then there’s the temptation to push everything off until “next year.”

But what if we used this time differently? What if we saw it not just as a chance to celebrate but as an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reset?

Taking an Aerial View of Life

For these last few weeks, I’ve been doing exactly that—taking an aerial view of my life, my resources, and what I’m asking to create. It’s not always easy to get vulnerable enough to ask:

  • What’s truly adding to my life?
  • What’s not working anymore?
  • And, even harder, what might be anchoring me down?

Letting go of what’s not working can be one of the hardest things to do. It’s natural to hold onto routines, commitments, or habits because they feel familiar, even if they no longer serve us. But this kind of reflection creates space for something better—new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and deeper alignment with who we are becoming.

Celebrate, Calibrate, Commit

As you take time for yourself in these final weeks of the year, here are three steps to guide your reflection:

  1. Celebrate Your Wins
Reflect on the progress you’ve made this year—no matter how big or small. Every win is worth celebrating because it’s a step forward.
  2. Calibrate to Your Vision
Take a moment to visualize the future you want to create. What does it look like? More importantly, how does it feel? Aligning with that vision helps you see the path forward.
  3. Commit to Moving Forward
Change happens in small, intentional steps. Think about one action you can take to release what’s not working and move closer to what you desire in the new year.

Taking Time for You

For me, this means stepping back from work for a couple of weeks—no emails, no to-do lists, and my team is taking time off too. This pause is about more than recharging; it’s about making space to reassess what’s working, reset my focus, and lay the groundwork for exciting changes ahead.

And yes, there are some exciting changes coming your way! I’ve been laying the foundation for what’s next, and I can’t wait to share it with you in the new year. Stay tuned!

Your Invitation to Reflect

This isn’t just a season for giving to others—it’s a season to give to yourself. Take a moment to ask:

  • What are you ready to celebrate from this year?
  • What do you want to let go of?
  • And what do you want to create as you step into the new year?

When you pause, reflect, and reset, you’re not just looking back—you’re building a strong foundation for what’s ahead.

Here’s to a joyful holiday season filled with love, connection, and clarity. Take this time for you, and I’ll see you in 2024, ready to create something amazing together!
